This client is having the time of her life at her fashion inspired boudoir photoshoot. She responded to a boudoir model call where I was looking to have models and clients who could showcase the diversity of women in the real world. I often photograph women who fit outside the 'thin, white, pretty' mold that we see in 98% of movies and advertising, but they don't always sign model releases. If a client doesn't sign a release, her photographs remain 100% private. Because of the need to keep many of the images I take private, I'll hold model calls from time to time to make sure that my portfolio represents a nice variety of women, including women of color WOC, plus sized women, LGBTQ clients, etc. This client fit perfectly with my studio mission and personal philosophy that all women are beautiful and deserve to have beautiful photographs of themselves. That cultural stereotypes shouldn't play a role in the types of photographs any woman has of herself. That Asian women don't have to play up the meek and mild stereotypes that we so often see in the media. She wanted to make sure her images were full of confidence and power, and that they represented her version of sexy, not what society says is sexy about Asian women. Her boudoir photography session in saint louis missouri at my photo studio was an absolutely fantastic day, and I think we surpassed her expectations what the final images would look like.
